In the United States, they fill entire halls. Today, HITEC takes over the Grande Scène and HSMAI the Atrium, into Pavilion 7.3 for their first steps in Paris. All day long, the talk is of technology and revenue.

Ask any American hotel IT director where the future of the job is being decided. The answer will be HITEC, the world’s largest hospitality technology event, run by HFTP, an association founded in Texas in 1952 that also publishes USALI, the accounting manual used across the hotel industry. From 10am to 4.45pm today, the Grande Scène tackles the questions keeping hoteliers up at night. Will AI agents really change how teams work? How can technology disappear so guests only notice the welcome? What should hotels do with their mountain of guest data, and how do they keep hackers out? This afternoon at 3.30pm, the final debate asks the awkward question of people versus machines.

The Atrium talks numbers. Since 1927, HSMAI has brought together hotel sales, marketing and revenue management leaders worldwide. Its first Paris forum opens at 10am this morning with the geopolitics now creeping into room rates, followed by a panel on commercial strategy in France and the Lightning Rounds, the association’s quick-fire signature format. This afternoon, AI goes under the microscope. Then comes every restaurateur’s headache: a full dining room and a thin margin. The 2.40pm TRevPAR workshop shows how to spot the bookings that genuinely pay.

“Paris is a major hotel market, and EquipHotel Paris is a natural meeting place for the whole industry,” says Ingunn Hofseth, President & CEO of HSMAI Europe. Tonight at 7pm, HSMAI and HFTP close the day with a joint networking session.
